The Heart of Greece

For those of you who don't know, this is an olive and leaves sitting in olive oil.
I did this one when I was board, so I started it without much thought, and about halfway through I decided to not finish it. So I dropped it for about a half year to 3/4 of a year. I picked it back up after I was entered into an art show, and finished the picture off.

Citrus Hue

The first painting I did in my citrus collection. This one goes in the hue, yellow, orange, and ending in the grapefruit with the red/pink. I definitely liked painting the grapefruit most, but painting the lemon was also great fun, adding all the highlights over the gorgeous yellow.

Wedge It

One of many citrus pieces that I've done recently. This one, a lime, was the toughest of the bunch. Limes are fun because you can mostly let your mind wander, and not pay tooo much attention to what you're doing, as the basic shapes need to be put in, and then the lines to show where the segments are. However, my green paint wasn't cooperating, so it didn't want to blend with my black.

Dolphin Statue - Fountain with a Porpoise

This picture I actually painted waaay back in 2011, but I didn't think anything of it, and put it away without doing anything with it. I know that I was thinking of doing a partner for it, and I started working on it, but things just didn't end up working, and I put the second painting away too.
Anyhoo, long story short, I finally entered this into an art show and, well... nothing happened. It didn't sell, and no one commented on it. I'm ok with that.

Oh, and for some weird reason, blogger has once again changed how the picture looks, and I can't do anything about that. So go to my Fine Art America page to see what it really looks like.

Please, if you're interested in this painting, you can purchase the original! I would like to get it off my hands (no joke, I'm serious about this). With the large gold frame on it, the price is $200 for this piece, without a frame $140.

A Moment on the Lips

Original photo by glutenfreecanteen.com

Ok, so I know most of you are prety sick of seeing cupcake posts, and I promise this is the last one for at least another 10 posts. After that, I can't promise anything.

This is one of the two partners that go with this cupcake.

Baker's Delight

Original photo by glutenfreecanteen.com

My third blue background cupcake paintings. Not nearly as dark as some of my other paintings, this one has a light touch to it, which contrasts nicely with the dark blue background.
The strawberry on this painting actually inspired another painting that I have come to loooove! (I will be posting that one soon!)

Mocha Cupcake

Original photo by glutenfreecanteen.com

My third chocoalte theamed cupcake series. This one is framed together with Toasted Peak, and Heaven's Endowment to create one cupcake piece.
I think I might still go back and fix the wrapper on this one, as I'm not happy with how it turned out. The frosting, on the other hand, needs no touching up, and is my favorite part of this painting.

White Strawberry Cupcake

Original photo by CookingClassy.com

This is my first cupcake painting that the original photo isn't done by glutenfreecanteen.com. When I realized how much fun I had painting cupcakes, I decided to reach out to a few more cupcake&food photographers/bloggers, and ask for permission to use their wonderful photography. Jaclyn from cookingclassy.com was wonderful enough to let me use her photos for refrence. Go check her out for some amazing recipies.

I also need a name for this delicious cupcake!!

Heaven's Endowment

Original photo by glutenfreecanteen.com

For some weird reason, this picture isn't correct to the one on my computer. The colors are wonky as I uploaded it to Blogger, and it won't allow the original photo through. So if you'd like to see what the real painting looks like (and would like to purchase a print) you can do so here.

Chocolate Cherry Cupcake

Original photo from glutenfreecanteen.com

This is one of the two other paintings that go with Hospitality. I love the purple tones in the painting, how the icing blends in with the highlights of the cupcake-top. The dark cherry on top makes this painting different from Hospitality.

I do need a name for this delicious treat. Got any names?

Raspberry Cupcake

Original photo by glutenfreecanteen.com

One of the more simple, and larger, cupcake paintings I've done. The original wrapper had a black design on it that I really felt didn't go with the rest of my series. I eliminated it, but somehow the cupcake is feeling a little simple now without it.
I do need a name for this piece, so any ideas are welcome.

Sour Harmony

Original photo by Glutenfreecanteen.com

My first, (and so far), only green/yellow cupcake painting. I absoutely love how the baker decided to make the cupcakes in a medium-sized pan, and when completed put them into a large muffin wrapper. I love it!

Toasted Peak

Original photo by glutenfreecanteen.com

A lemon meringue cupcake.
With the meringue on top, this white-peaked cupcake is a slope that needs to be devoured. What looks like cinnamon is actually toasted egg whites. Adding purple as shadows, it adds a different effect to the painting. This is one delicious cupcake I have to try baking!

Raw Caffeine

If you would like to purchase a print of this painting, you can do so here.

This painting I did for an art show the summer of 2012. The detail of the coffee beans was what really captured me originally. But as I started painting,
I realized how hard painting so many different pieces was. I think I spent 2 weeks painting, doing one bean here, and another one there...taking my time.

Thirsty?

Definitely my favorite wine glass painting that I've done. Though my red paint usually doesn't like to mix with my black paint, I finally wrestled the two paints together, and got that dark wine look.

Decadence

Original Photo by Glutenfreecanteen.com.

Decadence was my second painting of my series of cupcakes. This one had the challenge of the sprinkles on top of the whipped cream. This painting is definitely quite popular, because of the detail in the muffin.

Tenessee Afternoon

Original Photo by Glutenfreecanteen.com

The second in my cupcake paintings series.I love the vibrant orange colors, as well as the candied orange on top. The website, glutenfreecanteen had some fantastic photography, so it makes it easy to produce paintings from them.

Hospitality

Original Photo by Glutenfreecanteen.com. Visit them for awesome photography and gluten free recipes.

This past summer I was in the mood to paint cupcakes, and as I was searching, I came across this website that has some of the best food photography I've seen. I saw the pictures, fell in love with them, and right there and then emailed the users asking if I can use their photos for painting. They graciously said yes, so here I have this cupcake painting. And I love it!

The painting is 5" x 7", so it's a little painting.

Olive in Olive Oil

The same friend who bought the Pouring Olive Oil, bought this one.

As you can see, its an olive in a bowl of olive oil.
This, like the Pouring painting is a 5" x 7" painting, so it's not much bigger than the picture on the screen.

Pouring Olive Oil

If you would like to purchase a print of this painting, you can do so here.

This is one of the smaller paintings that I've ever worked on. the canvas size is 7" x 5".
As I found out, painting something small like this can be a real joy to work on, just because there isn't a whole lot of work involved. It's pretty simple to paint glass, as well. The hardest part is knowing when to blend colors together, and when to leave a hard line between two colors.

And the results from the polls are in.

What pictures would you like to see turned into paintings/pastels...etc...etc?
Hockey Players: 23%-5 votes
Music Artists: 19%-4 votes
Wildlife Animals: 23%-5 votes
Domestic Animals/pets: 0%-0 votes
Landscape: 14% 3 votes
Flowers: 19%-4 votes

Midnight Cup

Yet another coffee painting. This one is a coffee cup sitting on a table, with the background city lights.

This one was really different, because of the lights in the background. They're all different colors, and some you'd think wouldn't/shouldn't be there, but they are! Definitely a new experience.

A Hint of Lemon and Olives

A Hint of Lemon and Olives.

This one is one of my favorite paintings that I've done, and one of the most challenging. The painting is 11" 14", so it's not a huge painting, but it is larger for me. With the painting being only so big, the martini glasses were harder to do, because of the little differences in color.

On the Boulevard

On The Boulevard

This one I also did for an art show that happens where I live in September.

For some weird reason, the coloring didn't work in the photo, and no matter what I did to it digitally, the colors wouldn't match the original painting. There is more yellow in the original painting, and a little red, though you'd never know.

A friend of mine suggested "On the Boulevard", and though it is a martini drink, I think that the name fits.

Dark, Light, Medium

I cannot believe that I haven't posted this painting before. I did it who knows when in 2011, but I have news. I sold it!!
Anyway, I may be doing this one again, only this time instead of it being a 9" x 12", it will be larger. Who knows when I'll get that done. But as far as this painting goes, it isn't wasn't as easy to paint as it looks.

Celebrations

Golden Years
If you would like to purchase a print of this painting, you can do so here.

These two paintings I actually did back in August of 2011. Why I haven't posted them yet is because I couldn't get the top painting (Celebrations) to look correct when I took a photo of it.
Here they are now, enjoy.

Batman: Watcher over Gotham

I did this back in July when I was planning on teaching a cartoon course. The course fell through, but I was left with this batman picture that is one of my favorites of the ones I've done.I do need to change a few things, such as the lowest low-light in the grey part of his suit.

Betta Fish - Blue Moonstone

A few weeks ago, I was in the mood to paint Betta (or sometimes known as Siamese Fighting) fish.

I ended up paintnig this gorgeous betta fish, as a trial, to see how it went painting fish. I think it turned out pretty well, even if the metallic body didn't shine the way I wanted it to.

Spider-Man

This was the my first step into the world of doing comic book renditions. I realllllllly like how this one urned out! It took me days to get the webbing correct, but  the whole character took time to complete. I probably spent over 14 hours on Spider-Man. So. Worth it.

Iron Man

Iron Man.

This one was pretty simple to do, no funny lines, or weird curves, the whole thing was pretty symmetrical. Really easy to do!

Done in Photoshop CS5.

Donatello - TMNT

Here is Donny, the "third youngest". These digital drawings are getting easier and easier to do.

I actually did a flash picture of how I did this picture, but it wouldn't upload to Blogger, so I'll continue to fiddle with the information/programing of the pictures.

Would you guys rather see my digital paintings on this blog, or have them on my thoughts blog? I still count these drawings as paintings, but would you like it on another blog? Leave your vote on the sidebar and tell me what you think! I'd like to keep thes on this blog, but I also want to hear what you guys want.

Springtime Beach - Part 2/2 Christmas Gift

This is part two of my Christmas paintings posts. This one I did because my mom loves warmth, sun and beaches. Well, both my parents enjoy warmth etc, but I had my mom in mind when I was painting this. The camera didn't pick up the color the same way as it is in real life :(
I, personally, enjoy how the water looks connecting with the sand. I've always had a hard time with scenery but this one didn't give me a hard time. Ok, so it gave me a little difficulty, but not much.

Grapes - Part 1/2 Christmas Gift

This is one of two paintings I gave my mom and dad for Christmas 2011. I went for a different approach with this painting, because my mom likes the more smooshy type paintings. I googled grape pictures and came across this one and saw that it was paintable. I started painting it, on Christmas Eve at about 10 pm and didn't finish it until about midnight. But as I started painting it, I found out that I couldn't add any red painting to the grapes because of the type of blue I was using. Instead of creating a purple, I ended up creating a browny mess that I had to scrape/wipe off, so the grapes ended up being BRIGHT blue! It's ok, because it looks different in real life with it being less of a brilliant blue and more of a muted blue. I think my mom liked this one more than the next painting I'll be posting.

Dolphin Statue

This one of three dolphin statue paintings that I'm planning on doing. I've started on Painting #2, but quickly set it aside. It's been quite a bit of time since I actually did this, so I'd say I'm not going to be doing the other two for a while, but I thought I'd give you guys this one .

Because this is an all blue painting, I had to gather most of my blues to create all the different tones in the statue. Since it's a 9" x 12", it is slightly bigger than what I'm used to, so creating a smooth top layer was somewhat of a challenge. But I think it worked out in the end.

Red Christmas Ornament

My first Christmas painting of the year!!! WOOT!!

I am in the mood to paint Christmas ornaments, so I might be posting many paintings that have to do with Christmas. I am quite excited for this winter, because the mounting that me and my brother go snowboardng at is opening in 13 days!! But back to the painting...

I have found it quite diffulcult to paint the main red color of the ornament. Red is a color I really enjoy, but really hate painting with it. Especially when it has to darken to burganday or black. Yuck!
For the sparkle part, I actually used sparkles, not paint. I think it adds a special Christmas-y/unique look.

Orthanc Rescue - Lord of the Rings Painting

Lord of the Rings - Orthanc: Saruman's Tower in Fangorn Forest.

Since I was in the mood for doing landscapes, I decided to do a Lord of the Rings piece. I was going through The Fellowship of the Ring movie trailers, and ran across this picture. I immedietally wanted to paint it, with a picture of the One Ring. So here it is!

A Taste of Crimson

A Taste of Crimson

A wine picture with a satin cloth behind it.
Funny, funny painting. It took me over 2 days to complete it. I just kept on giving me trouble with the satin because the blacks didn't want to blend in with the red and pink. But it ended up working out in the end with a crimson drink.

First Date

First Date
One of the 7 paintings that are going into an art show.

This was a really fun painting. All the yellows, oranges and reds were fun to smoosh around on the canvas. The hardest parts are the wine. Getting the wine to flow smoothly is always a challenge because it's a liquid.

And I have finally come the the conclusion that I have a really hard time adding blog descriptions to my paintings :)

Equestrain Silver

I actually did on August 11, but didn't really feel like posting it.

My favorite of the two B&W horse head paintings. There is a mane on this horse, but in the original picture you can't see the mane. My dad said that it looked funny because there is no mane showing.
I edited the painting though. The thin strap that goes under the horses jaw originaly wasnt there. It was a chain, but I felt like it was pulling the focus away from the beauty of the head so I changed it. It personaly looks much better without it.

Ivory Queen

Black and white painting

I have has trouble painting because of the heat that we are getting. Because it is hot we have had our windows open, which means air flow, which dries out the paint before I can work with it. But all-in-all the painting worked out.
Thanks to Vrenith, this painting has been named "Ivory Queen". Great name, Vren!!!!!! LOVE it!!!
I am working on other horse paintings so look out for them.

My Mom's 2010 Christmas Gift

Yes, this painting was my mom's Christmas gift...of 2010.
It has taken me 6 months to post this picture, but it is because I had this picture on my camera and had not downloaded it. Than it went onto my external hard drive and I forgot about it. Well, now it is posted!!!
My mother likes the thick, swirly type of painting, so I decided lasts year to finally do a wine bottle and grapes for her gift.

Crayons...Lovely Things

I was really board the other day. I was sitting in the office and noticed a jar with crayons and markers in it. I meandered over and grabbed the jar. Within a few minutes I had started drawing out a friends eye using the crayons. I liked how it turned out so I did another one. It didn't turn out quite as well.

Winter Mountains

A painting that I did for a friend.
I am unhappy that this painting turned out to be a 'distance' painting. It looks quite sloppy when it is big, or if you look at it up close, but looks good small...or from a distance. But I am glad to know that a couple of friends of mine were wow'd by it, as they are snowboarders... I guess that is all that matters. If it pleases other people, than I have accomplished something in it

TRON: Legacy - CLU's Lightcycle

A painting that I did of CLU's Lightcycle
This painting has been one of the toughest paintings I have done yet.
Not much else to say about it :)
Painting done on January 24/2011

If you would like to purchase a print of this painting, you can do so here.

Night Time Blues

Before (underlayer)
After (finished product)

The before and after stages of this painting
Yes the painting is done, it is just done in really intense colors
This has been one of the more difficult paintings that I have done in a long while because it took me 3 nights to complete it. I did the under layer the first evening than got bored with panting that. The next evening I did the muzzle and the nose band. Just painting that took me 2 1/2 hours in itself. Then the next, next evening I finished it up with colorful results
