Red Christmas Ornament

My first Christmas painting of the year!!! WOOT!!

I am in the mood to paint Christmas ornaments, so I might be posting many paintings that have to do with Christmas. I am quite excited for this winter, because the mounting that me and my brother go snowboardng at is opening in 13 days!! But back to the painting...

I have found it quite diffulcult to paint the main red color of the ornament. Red is a color I really enjoy, but really hate painting with it. Especially when it has to darken to burganday or black. Yuck!
For the sparkle part, I actually used sparkles, not paint. I think it adds a special Christmas-y/unique look.

Orthanc Rescue - Lord of the Rings Painting

Lord of the Rings - Orthanc: Saruman's Tower in Fangorn Forest.

Since I was in the mood for doing landscapes, I decided to do a Lord of the Rings piece. I was going through The Fellowship of the Ring movie trailers, and ran across this picture. I immedietally wanted to paint it, with a picture of the One Ring. So here it is!

A Taste of Crimson

A Taste of Crimson

A wine picture with a satin cloth behind it.
Funny, funny painting. It took me over 2 days to complete it. I just kept on giving me trouble with the satin because the blacks didn't want to blend in with the red and pink. But it ended up working out in the end with a crimson drink.

First Date

First Date
One of the 7 paintings that are going into an art show.

This was a really fun painting. All the yellows, oranges and reds were fun to smoosh around on the canvas. The hardest parts are the wine. Getting the wine to flow smoothly is always a challenge because it's a liquid.

And I have finally come the the conclusion that I have a really hard time adding blog descriptions to my paintings :)

Equestrain Silver

I actually did on August 11, but didn't really feel like posting it.

My favorite of the two B&W horse head paintings. There is a mane on this horse, but in the original picture you can't see the mane. My dad said that it looked funny because there is no mane showing.
I edited the painting though. The thin strap that goes under the horses jaw originaly wasnt there. It was a chain, but I felt like it was pulling the focus away from the beauty of the head so I changed it. It personaly looks much better without it.

Ivory Queen

Black and white painting

I have has trouble painting because of the heat that we are getting. Because it is hot we have had our windows open, which means air flow, which dries out the paint before I can work with it. But all-in-all the painting worked out.
Thanks to Vrenith, this painting has been named "Ivory Queen". Great name, Vren!!!!!! LOVE it!!!
I am working on other horse paintings so look out for them.

My Mom's 2010 Christmas Gift

Yes, this painting was my mom's Christmas gift...of 2010.
It has taken me 6 months to post this picture, but it is because I had this picture on my camera and had not downloaded it. Than it went onto my external hard drive and I forgot about it. Well, now it is posted!!!
My mother likes the thick, swirly type of painting, so I decided lasts year to finally do a wine bottle and grapes for her gift.

Crayons...Lovely Things

I was really board the other day. I was sitting in the office and noticed a jar with crayons and markers in it. I meandered over and grabbed the jar. Within a few minutes I had started drawing out a friends eye using the crayons. I liked how it turned out so I did another one. It didn't turn out quite as well.

Winter Mountains

A painting that I did for a friend.
I am unhappy that this painting turned out to be a 'distance' painting. It looks quite sloppy when it is big, or if you look at it up close, but looks good small...or from a distance. But I am glad to know that a couple of friends of mine were wow'd by it, as they are snowboarders... I guess that is all that matters. If it pleases other people, than I have accomplished something in it

TRON: Legacy - CLU's Lightcycle

A painting that I did of CLU's Lightcycle
This painting has been one of the toughest paintings I have done yet.
Not much else to say about it :)
Painting done on January 24/2011

If you would like to purchase a print of this painting, you can do so here.

Night Time Blues

Before (underlayer)
After (finished product)

The before and after stages of this painting
Yes the painting is done, it is just done in really intense colors
This has been one of the more difficult paintings that I have done in a long while because it took me 3 nights to complete it. I did the under layer the first evening than got bored with panting that. The next evening I did the muzzle and the nose band. Just painting that took me 2 1/2 hours in itself. Then the next, next evening I finished it up with colorful results

Drifting Lightcycle - Scratch-Art

ANOTHER TRON scratch-art piece (yeah, it's like my 6th piece so far)
DEREZZED!
And I'm working on another one as we speak! lol

CLU Lightcycle Battle Scratch-Art

Another TRON scratch-art piece
As most of my family has said, 'why does the helmet cut off like that?'
If you look at it, the bottom of the drawing cuts off the same way. It is just how the original picture was so that is how the drawing is going to look

End Of Line - TRON: Legacy Painting

This is the END OF LINE!
A TRON painting
The orignal picture was from a test trailer.
This was orignaly CLU with green coloring but since the trailer was done, CLU's color was changed to yellow.
Some people may argue with me on this trailer but that is how it looks, so that is how I am going to paint it :)

Even MORE TRON: Scratch-Art

The fifth piece of TRON scratch-art
Probably the most detailed piece I have done yet :)

More TRON Scratch-Art

CLU, Rinzler, Sam

Daft Punk

The top scratch-art is of CLU, Rinzler and Sam

The bottom scratch-art is of Daft Punk.

Daft Punk, for those of you that don't know, are two guys that create dance/techno music, mostly instrumental. They did the TRON soundtrack, and have become a hit with their song (from that album) Derezzed. They teamed up with Harry Gregson-Williams and Hans Zimmer to create the score of the TRON film.
The cool thing about Daft Punk is that no one has seen their faces. When they perform live they wear helmets. Interviews...Helmets or they have their backs turned away from the camera. Very few people have actually seen the faces of Daft Punk. And that is why they fit into the movie so well.

TRON: Scratch-Art

TRON Light Cycle with CLU standing behind it
A TRON Light Cycle

Two different pieces of scratch-art.
For those of you that don't know what scratch art is, I'll explain.
It is a piece of cardboard colored into different colors, than covered with black clay. You then take a scratch tool, a piece of plastic with a shaped metal head, and scratch the clay away to see the color beneath. In this case, it is a white background. Some of the backgrounds that you can get are solid colors, but there is also metallic backgrounds, mostly silver but you can get gold and copper ones as well. The only problem with this form of art is you can never go back and replace the stuff you scratched off. Once you scratch it, it is permanent
I went to my local art store and bought a pack of 10 scratch art sheets and am going to do a whole TRON theme on them. *squeals* I cant wait to get them done :)

Loyalty

My latest painting; A Labrador Dog
A family I know, has two dogs, one black lab and one chocolate lab. The black lab is fully grown and is the mother to the chocolate lab, who is at the teenager stage for dogs. My family and I went over to their house for New Years Eve. Being over at their house and playing with their dogs inspired me to paint a labrador dog.
